Thirukkural 466

Doing what’s not to be done will lead to ruin;
Not doing what’s to be done will lead to ruin too.

செய்தக்க அல்ல செயக்கெடும் செய்தக்க
செய்யாமை யாங் கெடும்.

செய்தக்க அல்ல செயக் கெடும்; செய்தக்க
செய்யாமையானும் கெடும்.

If a ruler does things that are not to be done, it will cause his ruin. Similarly, if the ruler puts off doing things that he has to do, that too will cause his ruin.
