How moon like radiant faced young girls prayed to Krishna –
Who helped churn the ship laden milky ocean –
And had their desire fulfilled in his abode,
Is sung in thirty Sangam Tamil verses by Kodhai,
The fresh lotus garland wearing daughter
Of famed Srivilliputtur’s renowned Pattar*;
Those who recite this without fail here
Will receive the blessings of the strong four-armed,
Red eyed, bright faced Thirumal everywhere and be blissful!

வங்கக் கடல்கடைந்த மாதவனை கேசவனை
திங்கள் திருமுகத்து சேய்இழையார் சென்றுஇறைஞ்சி
அங்கப் பறைகொண்ட ஆற்றை அணிபுதுவைப்
பைங்கமலத் தண்தெரியல் பட்டர்பிரான்
கோதைசொன்ன சங்கத் தமிழ்மாலை முப்பதும் தப்பாமே
இங்குஇப் பரிசுரைப்பார் ஈரிரண்டு மால்வரைதோள்
செங்கண் திருமுகத்துச் செல்வத் திருமாலால்
எங்கும் திருவருள்பெற்று இன்புறுவர் எம்பாவாய்.
The story of young herder clan girls praying to Krishna, who helped Devas churn the milky ocean and obtain the elixir, and how the girls wishes were fulfilled is sung in thirty beautiful verses by Kodhai (Andal). Andal was the daughter of Periyalwar, the renowned Pattar (priest) of famous Srivilliputur. (She used to secretly wear the garland meant for the God before it was put on him. Hence it is mentioned here as garland wearing daughter of Pattar)
Those who recite these thirty verses without fail in this world will received the blessing of mighty Thirumal in all the worlds and be blissful.
